🚀 New Feature - Translation

We are excited to announce the release of xBit Digital Case Management v4.1, introducing a new language translation feature designed to make the platform more accessible for teams working internationally.

With this update, agencies can switch the interface language to match their official language and agency needs. The language preference can be configured:

  • Admin > About / Settings within the application
  • During the initial setup process

This flexibility allows organizations to deploy xBit in the language that best supports their investigators, analysts, and administrative staff. The language is set application-wide, not by user.

xBit is launching language support with Spanish in this release.

If your organization requires support for additional languages, please contact us. We are actively expanding language support and can work with agencies interested in deploying xBit in their preferred language.

Bug Fixes

During the development of our new translation tool, we took the opportunity to identify and fix both existing bugs and new issues discovered during testing. We've listed them all below for a complete overview of this update.

Assets

  • Fixed functionality with assigning and unassigning assets
  • Resolved bugs with editing government grants
  • Fixed problems with preventing asset type deletion

Case Dashboard

  • Resolved an error that prevented modifying cases and fixed duplicate Case ID validation messaging
  • Corrected an issue where case status could not be changed to "Complete"
  • Fixed case permission fields not saving and removed incorrect validation characters
  • Fixed click events in the Case Manager and prevented forms from clearing unexpectedly

Evidence Manager

  • Fixed audit log length limits during new evidence creation and resolved configuration saving for Evidence ID fields
  • Enabled bulk chain of custody options when selecting multiple evidence items

Report Builder

  • Corrected missing memo hours on legacy PDF reports and report generation errors tied to language changes

SMTP

  • Fixed an OTP authentication session expiration error

Groups / Users

  • Corrected user group edit forms and external user imports

About / Settings

  • Ensured that the About page correctly saves changed settings and removed duplicated options

Table View Builder

  • Fixed the inability to copy a table view

Stats

  • Corrected the average evidence items per case in Evidence Stats

UI Changes

Case Dashboard & View Evidence

  • Updated URLs to use evidence IDs
  • Implemented translations for case dashboards, new case pages, case selectors, and case status and deadline tags
  • Colorized the case status selections and prevented layout shifting upon selection

  • Added full-screen mode for the Rich Text Editor on memo and expense descriptions (Alt + Enter)

General Interface & Navigation

  • Adjusted top navigation styling for smaller screens and tablets
  • Enabled the context right-click menu on listing view rows

  • Updated the user name display format in table views
  • Prevented hotkey tooltips from firing on page load and corrected macOS keyboard shortcuts

Report Builder

  • Granted users the option to select whether evidence is shown at the end of non-custom sections or displayed exactly as arranged in the builder

Stats Explorer

  • Updated label for Dimension dropdown to "Group By"
